How GoodFences Began

GoodFences started with a problem that should have been simple. When founder Michael Timmons submitted a request to install solar panels on his home, the approval process took eight months. That experience led him to get involved, first serving on his community’s Architectural Review Committee and later as Board President.

What he discovered was a much bigger problem. HOA boards are made up of volunteers trying to manage complex communities with fragmented tools, manual processes, and limited access to the information they need. Homeowners are left waiting for answers, while board members spend countless hours trying to keep everything moving.

Michael saw an opportunity to build a better way. Drawing on his background in engineering, technology, and community leadership, he founded GoodFences to use AI and automation to reduce the administrative burden of running a community while giving homeowners greater visibility into the decisions that affect their homes.

Today, GoodFences brings communication, architectural requests, financial management, compliance, and everyday community operations into one platform, helping boards spend less time managing processes and more time leading their communities.
